Graduate Internship Programme


Petrojam Ltd. is pleased to announce that the second batch of Graduate Interns is scheduled to commence on January 2, 2014 and end December 31, 2014. This one (1) year programme will focus on students at the graduate and post-graduate levels.

Eligibility
Applicants should have completed their studies within the last twelve (12) months in any of the following areas:

  • Business Administration (emphasis in Finance or Human Resources)
  • Information Technology
  • Mass Communication
  • Economics
  • Process Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Project Management
  • Risk Management

Applicants should be a minimum of twenty-one (21) years but not older than thirty (30) years at the time of the commencement of the internship

Employment Opportunity: Junior Web Developer


Job Summary 
Calyx Data Works is seeking a Junior Web Developer to help make contributions to our core set of products. The Junior developer will work on a team of developers to develop new applications/processes, and extend and maintain existing applications/processes. The ideal candidate should be extremely intelligent, as well as quick and eager to learn. This position will provide a great learning opportunity.


Core Functions:

  • Translate specifications from designers into working pages and features 
  • Make key development contributions to the core product set 
  • Work closely with Product Management and Marketing 


Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (strongly recommended) 
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, Ajax, JQuery, MySQL 
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working in information technology/software development (including College/University) 
  • Strong problem solving and logic skills 
  • Able to assist other Developers as necessary 
  • Experience with developing or working with Content Management Systems 
  • MySQL Database experience 
  • Experience working with PHP MVC frameworks 
  • Experience working within a LAMP environment 
  • Completely comfortable writing automated scripts 
  • Attention to details and hunger for learning is a must

The Role
We are seeking to recruit a suitable candidate to fill the vacant position of Programmer Analyst assigned to the Kingston Branch Office.

Job Summary
The Programmer/Analyst will report directly to the Information Technology Manager and will assist in developing software applications for data capture, responding to data queries, data management and report generation. Additional duties include support and maintenance of the company’s online and ERP systems, End-User Training and additional tasks as assigned by IT Supervisor. The candidate will be assigned to the Kingston branch location.

REQUIRED SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from an accredited tertiary institution or equivalent practical experience and technical training in developing, enhancing and supporting applications systems.
  • Strong data analysis and problem solving skills with focus on attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively learn and use new programming concepts, tools, and methodology to support the needs of the business.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment while exhibiting good analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Solid understanding of relational database design and data warehouse concepts.

Job Alert: SYSTEMS PROGRAMMER/SERVER ADMINISTRATOR

SYSTEMS PROGRAMMER/SERVER ADMINISTRATOR
in the Finance & Information Technology Division located at the Head Office located at Kirkvine.
 
Candidates should have:
· A B.Sc. degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or any other related discipline.
· At least three (3) years’ work experience as a Systems Programmer/Administrator.
Main responsibilities include:
· Providing technical and operational support for the systems software of the central computers (AS/400 & MS Windows servers) and liaising with the hardware vendors, software vendors, and users.
· Maintaining systems backup and business recovery plans in a state of readiness.
· Planning, maintaining and monitoring capacity requirements.
· Maintaining standards and procedures relating to software implementation and ensuring compliance throughout the company.
Certification in MCSE, training in Windows 200X server administration, and knowledge of TCP/IP would be an advantage. The position further requires that the incumbent keeps abreast of technological offerings in the computer industry.
The ideal candidate should have highly developed leadership skills, strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional groups within the organisation, as well as with contractors.
