IT Help Desk Support Specialist

SynCon Technologies Limited is an independent consulting company that specializes in providing professional networking services, and messaging systems. We currently have an opening for a Help Desk Support Specialist. The successful candidate will be awarded a contract for the position.

Job Description
The IT Help Desk Support Specialist will serve as the initial point of contact for issues relating to IT and IS services. They will be responsible for logging tickets, basic troubleshooting, password resets, basic over-the-phone training, and act as an escalation point for higher level issues.

Responsibilities
Specific duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage the inventory of computer, components, and accessories
  • Install and upgrade of software on desktops and laptops
  • Remotely troubleshoot and resolve all hardware and software related issues for desktops and laptops.
  • Create user accounts for access to network resources and applications
  • Change user passwords and unlocking of accounts
  • Ensure that overnight backups are completed successfully


Education and/or Experience

  • Requires a Bachelors Degree in Information Systems or a technical degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in a technological oriented environment with emphasis on user support and troubleshooting
  • Experience working with MS Windows, PCs, and LAN management.

VM Group Donates Networking Equipment to CIS

On Friday, November 2, the Department of Computer and Information Sciences at Northern Caribbean University received a donation of networking equipment from The VM Group. The donation included switches, routers, and a firewall. They will be used to enhance the networking curriculum and aid in the effort to provide effective, efficient and relevant support and training to our students.

The Student Loan Bureau seeks to identify suitable candidates skilled in the programming languages listed below, in order to develop an online portal for the Students’ Loan Bureau.  The assignment requires them to design the appropriate interfaces (APIs, User Interfaces, etc), code development and documentation in keeping with business requirements.

The engagement is a temporary employment for a period of six (6) months in the first instance and the individual(s) will report to the Manager Information System (MIS) Department. 


The candidate should be unemployed, graduated within the past year or two, and possess excellent knowledge of the following:

  • Microsoft .NET 4.5 or greater
  • Microsoft SQL server 2014 or greater
  • Proficiency in ASP.NET Web Forms and MVC
  • Graphical User Interface (GUI) design - Design front-end user interfaces to improve user experience and usability
  • hands-on experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery
  • hands-on experience with Bootstrap and/or client-side frameworks
  • Experience with - ASP.NET Web APIs
  • Familiarity with JSON and XML based web services
  • Must have a depth of knowledge in the Java programming language, Android IDE’s and Android SDK’s

Full Stack Developer

The Role
We are looking for a  Developer, who will join one of our development scrum teams, with a main focus on debugging current problems and solving time sensitive issues.This is an opportunity to get hands-on experience with our code base, coding patterns, and development tools we use. This role will provide a training opportunity for  Developers interested in working with a highly collaborative and engaging agile tech environment.
 

While not a mandatory or exhaustive list, ideal candidates will have several of the following:
  • Experience with object-oriented languages such as C#, C++ or Java
  • Experience with JavaScript and JavaScript frameworks (e.g. AngularJS)
  • Experience with relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle or MySQL
  • Understanding of Unit testing, Test-Driven Development and mocking frameworks
  • Understanding of REST principles, Service-oriented architecture and API development
  • Experience or interest with working in an agile environment
  • Ability to demonstrate effective and open communication and collaboration
  • Understanding of continuous delivery principles and processes

 

Front End Developer

In this role, you can expect to be:
  • Designing, implementing, and testing UX features.
  • Working closely with product design and management to conceptualize and implement rich product experiences.
  • Balancing tradeoffs in user experience to improve performance.
  • Coding primarily in modern languages and frameworks like React, Angular or other JavaScript libraries, and standards-compliant HTML, CSS3

Would be excellent if:

  • You have a portfolio of end user facing experiences that shows your passion for building compelling web applications and UI in a professional environment.
  • You have experience integrating and tracking analytics tags and A/B testing.
  • You have experience developing experiences using D3.js or other charting framework.

Backend Developer

What you’ll do:
  • Write reliable and stable back-end codes with unit testing and code review
  • Provide technical analysis on platform enhancements and customizations
  • Collaborate with development partners and cross-functional teams to build processes and improve development efficiency
  • Investigate and resolve issues that arise within our system
  • Provide scope and estimation on projects and tasks
  • Innovate to improve application performance and platform reliability

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience in JAVA and Spring Framework
  • Knowledge of  MYSQL, SAP, Agile/Scrum, GIT
  • Familiarity with ASP, JavaScript, AngularJS
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Enthusiastic team player
  • Strong problem solving skills and willingness to take ownership
  • High standards for documentation, unit testing, code reviews, continuous integration & deployment, and preference for agile methods
